Relive the Roses: Watch the Westfield Marching Band in the Rose Parade

The band arrived fresh back from Cali on Thursday.

The 273-member Westfield High School Marching Band and its 40 chaperones returned to Chantilly through Dulles International Airport Thursday after six days in California where the band marched in the Rose Parade on Jan. 1.

The marching bulldogs made history this week as the first Fairfax County Public Schools band to march in the annual Parade of Roses in Pasadena.

The event was so momentous that Westfield High Principal Tim Thomas sent out a special email and recorded an automated telephone call on Dec. 31, reminding all students and their families to tune in to the Rose Parade to support the Bulldogs.

"The theme of this year’s parade is 'Dreams Come True.' It is certainly a dream come true for the band students, the staff, and the parents and others who have worked so hard for the past 15 months to make this dream a reality," Thomas said. "We are also very appreciative of the community's support of this once in a lifetime endeavor."
