Weather Closings: Feds, Fairfax County Announce Decisions About Statuses

Administrative offices will open at noon.

Fairfax County Courthouse is closed today due to power outages. 

Fairfax County Library branches Burke Centre, Great Falls and Tysons-Pimmet are all closed. 

The following Fairfax County Parks offices and visitor's centers are closed: Burke Lake, Hidden Pond Nature Center, Lake Fairfax, Ellanor C. Lawrence and Riverbend

Fairfax County Public Schools and School Age Child Care will be closed, Monday, Dec. 9 school officials announced on the FCPS website at 6 p.m. Sunday.

Fairfax County Government offices will be open Monday, Dec. 9, however employees have been granted unscheduled leave. Emergency service personnel should report as scheduled.

Fairfax County Circuit Court, District Court and Juvenile Relations are all closed Monday, Dec. 9. 

Fairfax County Park Authority events and classes area canceled, but the facilities will remain open. Get park authority updates here.

FastTran will transport critical medical care appointments only.Call 703-222-9764, TTY 711 for the latest. 

District of Columbia Government will operate on a two-hour delay. 

Federal Agencies will operate on a two-hour delay with the option of unscheduled leave and telework. 

The following activities in schools and on school grounds are canceled:

  • extracurricular activities
  • interscholastic contests
  • team practices
  • field trips
  • middle school after-school programs
  • professional learning and training courses
  • all adult and community education classes
  • recreation programs and community use by outside groups not affiliated with FCPS
  • School Age Child Care (SACC) centers.

The School Board work session will begin at 12:30 p.m.
