Centreville SYA Mets Baseball Team Takes First Place in Championship Game

All the players from the SYA team are from the Centreville area of Fairfax County.

The 12U Southwestern Youth Association (SYA) Mets travel baseball team took first place this month in the Ripken experience Labor day Classic in Aberdeen, MD. 
The team was 5-0 going into the championship game on Labor Day where they beat Loudoun South 9-7 for the trophy, said Angie Ritz a parent affilated with the SYA Mets team. 

During the tournament, the Mets dominated in both offense and defense.  The Mets' hitting was led by Danny Leo with seven doubles and a Grand Slam. The team's pitchers dominated their opponents, shutting them out in three games. Billy Hoad and Danny Leo turned in especially strong performances, she said. 

SYA Mets player Travis Blee was named Championship Game MVP. 

The team's players are all Centreville area youths between the ages of 10 and 12  coached by Seth Blee, John Leo, Chris Dux, and Pete Bendorf.
