Lacrosse Team Fights Hard, Gets Ready for Orlando Tournament
Sports update from Centreville High.
The Centreville girls lacrosse team faced two tough opponents over the past week, ending up with a 3-3 record for the season so far.
A 10-2 loss to the Chantilly Chargers showed the Wildcats scrambling to break through Chantilly’s powerful defense. Flo Duong and Erin Sanders each scored a goal early in the game. Maggie Dulkerian and Mackenzie Johnson were instrumental at ground ball recoveries that failed to turn the game. Highlighting the Centreville defense was goalie Taylor Marrow, who held off the Chargers with an incredible 19 saves.
The Wildcats came out strong in their next face-off against the Robinson Rams. Senior Taylor O’Hara was key to Centreville’s possession of the ball that started the game off with an explosion of Wildcat offense. Junior Maggie Dulkerian led the Wildcats scoring with four goals, while Erin Sanders (two goals), Carly Sane (two goals), and Hayley Anderson (one goal/one assist) combined to give Centreville a two point lead at the half. During the end of the second half the Rams' offense came on with a deluge of game ending goals, beating the Wildcats 16-11.
