CVHS Track and Field Nets Results at Wolverine Classic

Sophomore Maryn Wood places first in 400 meter dash.

This was a big week for sophomore sprinter Maryn Wood. Wood set personal bests in the 400-meter dash, placing first, and the long jump, placing third at the Wolverine Classic in Purcellville on Friday, April 20. 

She followed those results with a third place finish in the 100-meter sprint in the prestigious Lake Braddock Hall of Fame Invitational on Saturday at . She recorded another personal best of 12.66 in that event as well.

Mike Wright was another standout at the two invitationals with a sixth place finish in the 400-meter dash at the Wolverine Classic as well as a third place finish, and personal best, in the 200-meter dash at the LB Hall of Fame meet.

In addition to the two sprinters, senior Long Jump competitor Philip Christophe placed fifth. Junior distance standout Lee Young Chan placed sixth in the 3200-meter run at the Hall of Fame Invitational.

As well as the two invitationals, CVHS competed in a district tri-meet against Herndon and Oakton. Congratulations to the following athletes for their point-scoring performances:

  • In the hurdles, Maria Cowen placed fourth for the girls, and Shawn Terry placed second for the boys.
  • Kevin Bishop placed fourth in the 100-meter dash.
  • Fatma Mansaray placed third for the girls in the 200-meter dash. Manny Mitter placed first and Brian Pluchinskyu third for the boys. 
  • In the 400-meter spring Maria Cowen placed first and Fatma Mansaray second for the girls. Mike Mantis placed second for the boys. 
  • Woo Jin Han placed fourth in the 800-meter run, and Mike Cateriano had a fourth place result in the 3200-meter run. 
  • In the field events, Maria Cowen placed second and Rachel Lee third in the girls’ triple jump, while Mike Mantis placed third for the boys. 
  • Rachel Lee had a second place finish for the girls in the long jump. 
  • Elizabeth Johnson placed first and Maggie Pelletier second in the girl's high jump. 
  • Dean Dickinson placed third in the boys' high jump. 
  • In the girls' and boys' shot put, Taylor DaCosta placed second, Nathan Milton placed second and Jamarkis Mitchell placed third. DaCosta scored again with a third place finish in the girls' discus and Milton first for the boys.
