Westfield Weekly Sports Review

A look at last week's sports scores

Girls Lacrosse: Very near the end of their season, the Lady Bulldogs split games last week. The team lost to Chantilly but rebounded with a high-scoring 19-11 win over Centreville on Senior Night.

The Bulldogs are now 9-2 on the season with only one game remaining, which will be at home May 2 against Madison.

Baseball: The boys baseball team went 1-2 last week, losing two contests. Herndon defeated Westfield 9-4 last Monday at Herndon High School, and Oakton got a rare road win against Westfield, winning 5-4 Tuesday evening. The Bulldogs rebounded Friday night, defeating Centreville 6-4 at Centreville.

Despite losing two games last week, the Bulldogs are just 11-3 on the year, and one of the Concorde District’s hottest teams. Next up, Westfield hosts Robinson on May 3.

Girls Soccer: With an 8-0-3 record on the season, the team went into Thursday night’s home game against Chantilly determined to win. However, despite a commendable effort on the field and larger than usual crowd, in honor of Senior Night, the Bulldogs ultimately suffered their first lost, 2-1.
