PetFest and Paws on Parade: Saturday, June 2 at South Run Rec Center

If you're looking for something you can do with your pet this weekend, come on out to the Petfest at South Run Rec Center, Saturday June 2nd. It will run from 10am to 4pm.

Looking for something you can do with your pets this weekend?  Bring your furry family members and head over to the South Run Rec Center for some good family fun.

As part of the Springfield Days event, Saturday is dedicated to pets. The weather is expected to be in the mid-70s and mostly sunny. Absolutely perfect.

The PetFest kicks off at 10 am and goes until 4pm. There will be a wide variety of events and activities on site from a pet parade to agility demonstrations. Vendors of pet related items and pet photographers will also be on hand, along with pet services such as dog walkers, veterinarians and doggie day care providers.

Children’s activities will also be offered, including face painting. If your pet gets a little jealous, not to worry. Pet painting will also be offered. Non-toxic, of course. The highlight of the day is said to be the opportunity to meet Hank the Cat. You know, the guy who’s running for Virginia Senate!

If you don’t have a pet, but are looking for one, several local animal rescues will be there with dogs and puppies looking for new homes.

The event kicks off with the Blessing of the Pets at 10:30 and the Pet Parade at 11.  It's not always easy to find events that you and your pet can enjoy together, so take advantage of this pet friendly opportunity.
