How is this going to reduce the number of crashes? Call it what it is a money grab thanks to theRead More phony republicans who voted for the biggest tax increase in Virginia history, you know Tag Greason and the good old boys!
Bill Zaccagnino July 11, 2014 at 01:56 pm
The article mentions 600 crashes involving these vehicles. What is the statistic within the 600Read More that clarifies who is at fault in the crashes? Too often 4-wheel vehicles drive carelessly and don't take 2-wheel motor vehicles into account or treat them as if they have less right to be on the road than 4-wheel motor vehicles. I ride a motorcycle and I know I need to be extra careful when doing so. The unfortunate truth is that whether I am at fault or not, I will be the loser in a crash.
Motorists receiving email noting unpaid tolls, but it's a hoax. Provided.

Anybody can put those names in the from field. Check the headers of the email. That's a better wayRead More to verify. Bottom line, people should never respond to emails claiming non-payment. Always call to verify for sure.

Someone asked me this week to help them renew their passport. When they saw how long it would take,Read More they said they could go to a local place and get it the same day for $300. I asked the name, and she said "something Spanish." I told her it was probably a fraud and criminal. I wish I had gotten more info, but it was a place in Alexandria. I should call and ask if she got one!

This is great. We get to shelter, feed, and keep healthy this guy for 12 years before we releaseRead More him. He's getting off easy. Think about how much damage this guy has caused: FAKE social security numbers - for getting government handouts???; identification cards - for VOTING illegally? There's no telling how much these fake documents have impacted us.

Too bad deportation doesn't precede incarceration. a coslly way of dealing with illegally residentRead More culprits guilty of aiding and abetting illegal immigration. Afterthought: Don't quite know what to do about similarly culpable chief executives and members of Congress.

I am well aquainted with one of the victims. The boy was not 'pushed' to the ground. As theRead More perpetrators were passing, the boy was sucker punched in the face and knocked to the ground. He was then swarmed and punched, kicked and stomped on. He didn't have his wallet or cell phone or anything else. The items stolen were his 2 year old shoes. They weren't out for his shoes, they were out to humiliate him. This was not a robbery. Clearly an assault which should be charged as such. It was dark and with fear and adreneline running through your veins I wonder what you might remember, specifically, about your attackers. They will likely get away with it and do it again. Be careful.
John Smith July 8, 2014 at 09:31 pm
Forgot to add that although the report mentions that neither victim required medical attention isRead More incorrect. The male victim went to the emergency room the next morning for X-rays on his jaw, elbow and leg. Luckily no fractures but his arm is black and blue from the shoulder down and he was unable to eat solid foods for 3 days.

With Obama gathering our phone info and listening to our conversations, why can't the governmentRead More find these people? Also - if people are here LEGALLY, they wouldn't have to worry about deportation threats.
Mike June 25, 2014 at 11:06 am
Marie. The government does not care. They consider them more democrat voters.

The IRS is an abusive, criminal beast; it needs to be abolished, period. Replace it with a flat tax.
Latest tragedy reveals another danger of leaving children unattended in cars.

It's called rear view mirrors and windows. I don't buy the story. I think criminal charges should beRead More in order.
Sandra Bishop June 20, 2014 at 11:31 am
I could see putting the child in the car, while it's running, for a/c, while unloading packages inRead More the trunk...and then returning the cart to the cart parking area. That would take a few minutes, not negligent or criminal. That said, was the child in a car seat? Shouldn't be able to reach the power window switch while in a car seat. Also should lock the power windows from the driver's panel, so kids in back can't open them.

went through that little gauntlet... The rule is that if you touch a cone you get pulled for aRead More sobriety check... The cones leave you about 5 inches from your tires... There had to have been 50 cops on that scene...

Kids are using this stuff like candy. I had a teen stay with us that I was trying to help do itRead More right in my own home...after countless times catching him, I kicked him out and I'm sure he's still doing it. He wouldn't get help, he refused to stop...I had to stop enabling him. We need help in this area!!! We need resources for these kids, safe resources that they won't feel threatened

Tracey Rosenberg, please ignore Joe Brewer. Some people only post to see it appear ~ not to giveRead More advice or encouragement. I have seen this in many young persons lately. If you don't get the crowd into rehab, those that getRead More into rehab just start over again once they reattach to their group. If you can keep them away from those that use it, it is a start. However most addicts will seek it out. No matter how many times they go through rehab.

The Centreville area is becoming a risk if you follow the news. Perhaps it's time for theRead More "Fortress" plan with day/night cameras, whole house alarm, a group of German Shepherds and a few firearms. I thought home invasions would not turn to this area but I was wrong when some time back, a gardener was killed during an incident. The area is changing and when seconds count, help is 20 minutes or more away. The 1950's are gone when one could leave a house unlocked and everyone knew their neighbors. Not paranoid, just aware of...change.

This is tragic, however we are going to see more people hit by cars because there is a new thing -Read More no one looks to see if cars are coming anymore = they just cross the street - and not at the cross walks. I had to slam on my breaks recently because a woman with a baby pouch - was talking on her cell phone as she crossed Sully Park Drive. She didn't even look to see if a car was coming.
Adrianne Hamilton May 22, 2014 at 06:39 am
Yes, pedestrians need to be more careful. What point does it make to be "right" if you areRead More dead. BUT - drivers are the ones in control of the thousands pound machinery that we are operating and it is not only the law but our moral duty to look out for pedestrians, keep our speeds manageable and our attention to the road. I could not live with myself if I caused a pedestrian death, regardless of whether the pedestrian was paying attention.
MrBill May 22, 2014 at 09:25 am
I call it natural selection. People in this area for some bizarre reason, think the laws of physicsRead More do not apply to them. I have people walk and jog out in front of me all the time. My Toyota hybrid doesn't make much noise on battery and they just do not look. It goes all the way back to your parents telling you to LOOK both ways before crossing the street. You actually have to turn your head and eyeballs to accomplish this. Joggers and walkers with ear buds in seem completely oblivious! To blame the vehicle driver and let the ones actually breaking jaywalking laws is not appropriate. Moral Duty?? Sure... Let's go with that. :-O
