Alexander Anthony Steele Gioeli Born: Nov. 1, 1989 Died: May 28, 2012 Date of Memorial Service: Friday, June 1 (visitation) and Saturday, June 2 (visitation and service) Alexander Anthony Steele Gioeli, of Clifton, passed away on Monday, May 28 at the age of 22. Born in Fairfax to parents John and Georgeana, Gioeli attended Centreville High School and went on to study psychology at Northern Virginia Community College. In addition to being an active member of Unity Church and an Eagle Scout, Gioeli was a passionate pianist and percussionist who wrote his own music and often performed in concerts. Barry Allen Gorodnick Born: Dec. 9, 1964 Died: May 12, 2012 Date of Memorial Service: Thursday, May 17 After battling non-Hodgkin’s lymphoma for nearly 18 months, Barry Allen Gorodnick passed away at his Centreville home on Saturday, May 12 at the age of 47. The son of Bill and Mary Gorodnick, he is survived by his wife of 13 years, Jennifer, children, Kaitlyn, Taylor and Ryan, brothers, Mark and Paul, niece, Rachael, and nephew, Zachary. Gorodnick is a graduate of Robinson Secondary School, class of 1983, and Salem College, class of 1988. After college, he returned to Robinson, where he taught and coached football and softball for 24 years. Catherine Mary Bergeron Conroy Born: May 21, 1921 Died: May 6, 2012 Date of Memorial Service: Thursday, May 17 A native of Chippewa Falls, Wis., Conroy is preceded in death by her husband Oliver W. Conroy, Jr., and her six siblings. She is survived by her children, Michelle Schumacher, Denise Hudson (Norman), Paul Conroy, Mark Conroy, Helene Ciarrusso (Keith) and Cecile Conroy, her four grandchildren, Cheryl, Joseph, Maria and Dominic, and six great-grandchildren, Sarah, Bryson, Charter, Daniel, Cash and Bailey. A nurse for 25 years, she was also a World War II veteran who served as a 1st Lieutenant in the U.S. Army. A funeral service will be held at St. Timothy Church in Chantilly on May 17, at 10:30 a.m., followed by an interment …

Cameron Elizabeth Harrier, age 22, of Centreville, Va., passed away March 15, 2012 after a prolonged illness. Cameron was the beloved daughter of Constance Finley-Harrier of Centreville, and Dr. Dale Harrier of Espanola, New Mexico. She is survived by her brother, Colin Harrier of Denver, Co., sisters Devon and Danielle Harrier of Espanola, as well as several uncles, aunts, and cousins. Cameron attended West Virginia University and was a member of the Sigma Kappa Sorority. She was a 2007 graduate of Westfield High School where she played varsity lacrosse and performed in the orchestra on her beloved bass. Services were held Thursday morning at Zion Baptist Church in Fairfax
Family and friends said goodbye to fallen firefighter Horace Christopher “Teddy” Pendergrass at the Zion Baptist Church on Thursday morning. Hundreds of Fairfax County Firefighters and firefighters from as far as New York came to pay their respects. Pendergrass, 49, was a 21-year veteran of the Fairfax County Fire and Rescue Department. Pendergrass passed away on Saturday at the Crosspointe Fire Station in Fairfax Station. The cause of his death is under investigation, though he is believed to have died of natural causes. Pendergrass leaves behind his two daughters, Christian Adams and Tierra Pendergrass, and his son, Horace Christopher Junior, according to his obituary published for his funeral service. Kristina Jeannette Gerl, 17, died in January at her home in Sully Station. She is survived by her parents Mark and Julie Gerl, and her brother Robert Patrick Gerl. Gerl, a senior at Westfield High School, was active in the theatre, and loved being in the limelight, her family and friends said. Since she loved the arts—photography, painting, filmmaking—Fairfax Academy was also a natural fit for her. "She danced to her own drumbeat," said Mark Gerl, her father. "She was the epitome of an individual. She fit in in a lot of ways but never followed the crowd."
