Whether you're a business owner holding an event or just someone with something to say, here's how to share it with everyone in town.
No, as far as I've heard, there are no zombies at Walmart or anywhere else in town. But that, of course, doesn't mean you have nothing to tell your neighbors. And if you do, I'm here to help. Allow me to introduce myself: My name is Jessie Biele, and I'm your Community Engagement Editor. What do I do? I help you reach your neighbors, right here on Patch. And why do I do that? Because Patch doesn't just talk to you; Patch gets neighbors talking to each other, too. So, if you're a business owner with an event to announce, a school teacher who wants to highlight student achievement, a gardener who wants to share tips to get the whole city blooming or a photographer who wants to share some great pix, I'm here to help. Posting announcements, …

The Roman Catholic Church enters a new era with the election of Pope Francis. The Khalifa of Islam and head of the worldwide Ahmadiyya Muslim community congratulated the Pope, urging him to utilize his office to build peace and harmony among different faiths. The Ahmadiyya Muslim Community has a long history of working towards peace. The founder of the community, Mirza Ghulam Ahmad, echoed lessons of peace originally preached by the Prophet Muhammad. Muhammad frequently invited Christians to interfaith dialogues, to work towards interfaith peace. In the same spirit, the Ahmadiyya Muslim Community invites Pope Francis to work with Muslims in developing global harmony. A peaceful world can only be achieved if our two communities work …

The fundraiser helps benefit the CVHS all-night after-graduation party at Dave and Busters.
The Centreville High School PTSA is hosting the 2013 CVHS All-Night After-Graduation Party on June 18, 2013 at Dave & Busters. This is a drug- and alcohol-free party for the entire senior class of 555 students. The party has games, bowling, pool tables, food/drinks all evening, casino games, and lots of prizes. Money made this year also assists with planning for similar parties, which serve to keep kids safe on graduation night, for all future graduating classes. We have worked to raise money for this event since last September. We are having our biggest fundraiser this weekend: the annual mulch sale. We have sold over 13,000 bags of mulch and we will deliver them to the community March 15 thru March 17. We now need the community to help …

Springfield District Supervisor Pat Herrity delivered his State of the County address Tuesday. The address is reprinted here in its entirety: Looking Back 2012 was a year full of surprises, some good, some not so good. With the backdrop of the Presidential and federal elections many of the issues raised at the national level mirrored those that we at the County had to deal with; namely our fiscal situation, regulatory policies, and infrastructure. 2012 was also a year of surprises for me personally. As I approach the one year anniversary of my open heart surgery I am grateful to have made a full and speedy recovery, to be here and to be able to continue to serve you. As we enter 2013 and look ahead to the challenges facing us this coming …
