The Roman Catholic Church enters a new era with the election of Pope Francis. The Khalifa of Islam and head of the worldwide Ahmadiyya Muslim community congratulated the Pope, urging him to utilize his office to build peace and harmony among different faiths. The Ahmadiyya Muslim Community has a long history of working towards peace. The founder of the community, Mirza Ghulam Ahmad, echoed lessons of peace originally preached by the Prophet Muhammad. Muhammad frequently invited Christians to interfaith dialogues, to work towards interfaith peace. In the same spirit, the Ahmadiyya Muslim Community invites Pope Francis to work with Muslims in developing global harmony. A peaceful world can only be achieved if our two communities work …

The Ahmadiyya Muslim Community in Chantilly invites the public to attend a conference on Muhammed in early March. The talks will begin at 7 p.m. March 7 and continue til 9 p.m. at the Mubarak Mosque, 4555 Ahmadiyya Drive, Chantilly. The organizers describe it as an opportunity for people of all backgrounds to learn. The Ahmadiyya Muslim Community was founded in 1889 and has members in over 200 countries. The exhibit comes as Muslims all over the world, including members of the Mubarak mosque in Chantilly, are observing Ramadhan, a month set aside for prayer and fasting.
Members of Northern Virginia's Muslim community will host a Quran exhibition at Cascades Library, in the Sterling area, on Sunday, Aug. 5. The purpose of the exhibition is to clear up misunderstandings about the Quran and make its teachings more widely known, according to Nasir Jadran, secretary of public relations for the North Virginia chapter of the Young Men's Auxiliary of the Ahmadiyya Muslim Community. The exhibit comes as Muslims all over the world, including members of the Mubarak mosque in Chantilly, are observing Ramadhan, a month set aside for prayer and fasting. Fairfax County Police arrested Trenton M. Carter, 18, of Centreville.
Fairfax County Police have arrested a Centreville man they believe caused more than $200,000 worth of damages by vandalizing a Chantilly mosque earlier this year. Police arrested Trenton M. Carter, 18, of Round Lick Lane, on May 3 on one count of felony destruction of private property, according to arrest records. Fairfax County Police believe Carter did not act alone, and expect there will be a second arrest, "possibly more," said Capt. Purvis Dawson, commander of the Sully District Police Station. Dawson said the arrest confirmed the police's initial theory that the vandalism was not a hate crime, but rather "a random act of vicious stupidity." The investigation continues. Dear Editor: The Unitarian Universalist Congregation of Sterling is deeply saddened by the violence visited upon the Ahmadiyya Muslim Community Mosque in Chantilly. The vandalism, which included the destruction of all of the first level windows and glass doors, will cost the community $60,000 in repairs. Tallying the damage begins with recognition of the monetary loss, but does not stop there. The Mosque is a community within a community, a neighbor to neighbors. The desecration of the building is an overt act of bigotry, an act that threatens to rend the delicate ties that hold a community of diverse people in balance. Fairfax County Police believe that the recent vandalism at the construction site of a new Chantilly mosque was probably a random act of vicious vandalism, Captain Purvis Dawson, the commander of the Sully District Police Station, said Tuesday. The Northern Virginia chapter of the Ahmadiyya Muslim Community will have to delay the mosque's opening (previously scheduled for late February), and leaders estimate the amount of damage is in the tens of thousands of dollars. Under the cover of darkness Sunday night, vandals downed alcohol, threw rocks and smashed the windows—along with over a decade of hard work, financial sacrifices and prayers—of a Chantilly mosque. The Ahmadiyya Muslim community was reeling Monday after learning of the destruction at the construction site, which leaders estimated could cost up to $60,000 to repair.
