Westfield Defeats Flint Hill in Bulldog Bash Runner-Up Round

The Westfield Bulldogs defeated Flint Hill School 66-49 on the final day of the Bulldog Bash, coming in third place overall for the tournament.  Westfield started off the tourney with a 52-35 win over Fairfax High on Tuesday, followed by a Wednesday loss to Battlefield 46-45. Flint Hill was victorious on Monday's game against AACS, 63-62, then lost a Monday game to McLean, 68-43. 

Forbush Sets New Record as Centreville Tops Freedom 83-49

Chaney Forbush scores 33 points on the last day of the Bulldog Bash and breaks previous school record for most points in a single game.

The Centreville Wildcats ended the Bulldog Bash with a blowout against Freedom High School, 83-49 and a new CVHS sports record.  Forbush put up 33 points on Thursday and broke her former teammate Erin Meador's previous record of 31 points in a single game. She also captured 11 rebounds. Jenna Green scored 14 points.  Though the Wildcats left the Bulldog Bash in seventh place, they ended the evening with the high score of the tournament. Centreville lost the two previous games on Tuesday to Madison, 63-43 and Wednesday 63-50 to Potomac.  A previous version of this article incorrectly stated the number of Chaney Forbush's rebounds. 

James Madison Edges Westfield in Bulldog Bash Final

Madison won the championship 41-6 in overtime.

In the final day of play at the annual Bulldog Bash, Westfield High and James Madison High competed for the tournament championship.  Westfield had paved its way to the game with a 43-35 win over Bishop Ireton on Dec. 27th, followed by another victory over Flint Hill the next day, 47-42. It was a tight game on Thursday; the Bulldogs led 23-17 at halftime, and at the beginning of the fourth quarter, still maintained a slight lead 29-28. But Madison put an end to the Bulldogs' hopes for a title in overtime, ending the game at 41-36.   Westfield took second place overall in the tournament.

Get Ready for the Bulldog Bash

Annual tournament starts on Dec. 27th.

For the last nine years, sports fans have received an extra present right after Christmas: three full days of basketball at Westfield High School.  This year's Bulldog Bash will start on at 9 a.m. on Dec. 27 and continues on the 28th and 29th.
