Pjammin' Day Raises Awareness, Funds to Fight Childhood Cancer

Students wore pajamas to school and donated money in honor of a Liberty Middle School student, Andrew McCaffrey, who has a rare bone cancer.

Centreville Elementary, Liberty Middle and Centreville High schools participated in Pjammin' Day, a special event held in honor of a seventh grader, Andrew McCaffrey, to raise awareness of childhood cancer. The event, held on Feb. 3, was organized by Liberty Middle School student, Shannon Lyons. Students donated a dollar in exchange for wearing pajamas to school for the day. All money raised will be donated towards American Childhood Cancer Organization's (ACCO) molecular-based childhood cancer research, as well as the reprinting of ACCO's childhood cancer books. Andrew was diagnosed with osteogenic sarcoma two years ago after doctors found a tumor in his right knee. He has endured months of chemotherapy and a total of 10 surgeries to both…
