Man Sentenced to 30 Years for Centreville Home Invasion Death

Tasheik Ashanti Champean, of Maryland, was sentenced Friday for conspiracy to commit Hobbs Act robbery and use of a firearm during a crime of violence causing death.

A Maryland man was sentenced to 30 years in prison Friday for his role in a 2010 Centreville home invasion that led to the death of a Manassas Park man.  Tasheik Ashanti Champean, of Suitland, Md., conspired with two other men to rob the owner of a check cashing store at his Centreville residence on May 17, 2010. When Jose Rosales Cardona tried to stop the robbery, he was shot and killed.  Champean pleaded guilty in the Eastern District of Virginia courthouse in Alexandria on Dec. 7 to conspiracy to commit Hobbs Act robbery and use of a firearm during a crime of violence causing death.  "What is now apparently true is that Champean is not the triggerman in the death of Jose Cardona," Champean's attorneys, Pleasant Brodnax III and Frank …

Detective: Suspect Burned Truck After Centreville Home Invasion

An evidentiary hearing was held for Stacy Lorenzo Reed, of Manassas, on federal weapons charges Tuesday.

During the hearing, new details surfaced about what authorities believe Reed's role was in the crime, based on cell phone evidence and witness accounts.  Reed, 43, proposed the scheme to Tasheik Champean, one of the men who attempted to rob the home, said Detective Stephen Needels, of …

Manassas Man Planned Centreville Home Invasion, Authorities Say

Federal prosecutors have filed a new charge against Stacy Lorenzo Reed, of Manassas, who appeared in court Thursday.

Stacy Lorenzo Reed, the man who is accused of driving the car to a 2010 Centreville home invasion, also planned the attack that ended in the death of a Manassas Park man, authorities allege in court documents.  Federal prosecutors filed a new firearms charge on Dec. 18 against Reed, who appeared in court Thursday afternoon. In an affidavit supporting the charge—aiding and abetting the using and carrying of a firearm during and in relation to a crime of violence causing death—a Fairfax County detective said that Reed had obtained "inside information" to coordinate the home invasion and enlisted others to help carry out the crime. During the invasion, Jose Rosales Cardona, of Manassas Park, died trying to defend his employers.  Tasheik …
