Sully Police Patrol Friday Yields DWI Charges

Officers also issued summonses and warnings.

A patrol by Sully Police District officers Friday led to DWI charges for two drivers, Fairfax County Police report.  Officers from the Sully Police District patroled the area Friday for drunk drivers, and in addition to the two DWI charges, police issued 27 summonses and 35 warnings. A summons is an order to appear before a judge or magistrate, or the writ containing it: "a summons for nonpayment of a parking ticket."  The Fairfax County Police Department patrols the roadways for drunk and impaired drivers. Sobriety checkpoints are one of the tools that police use to make sure drivers are not consuming alcohol and getting behind the wheel. Thief Breaks into Basement, Steals Laptop

Sully District Police Blotter The following information was taken from the weekly incident report published by the Fairfax County Police Department. Burglary: A resident reported at  10:45 a.m. Aug. 25 someone entered his home on the 4200 block of Galesbury Lane and stole a laptop computer. Police determined the suspect forced entry through a basement window. Burglary A resident reported at 7:30 a.m. Aug. 23 someone entered his home on the 12500 block of White Drive and stole a bag. Police determined the suspect entered the home through an unsecure garage door. Man Charged With Assault After Traffic Altercation

The following information was provided by the Fairfax County Police Department. Where arrests are mentioned, it does not indicate a conviction.

Assault: Officers were called to a fight at Havener House Way and Newton Patent Circle on May 21, at 11:30 a.m. Police said that Robert Clifton, 63, of Centreville, attacked the victim with a knife following a near crash while driving. Clifton was charged with assault, and the victim was not injured. Robbery: The victim reported that a man entered the business at 6000 block of Centreville Crest Lane at 9:40 p.m. on May 18, brandished a handgun and demanded money. The suspect fled with cash. Police Looking for Serial Flashers

Detectives believe more than one man has targeted females in the area.

Fairfax County Police said Tuesday that one or more male flashers have targeted females—including young children—in the area near Cub Run Stream Valley Park.  The men have exposed themselves to women between ages 3 and 50 years old walking on the paths on a number of occasions over the past year, police said. Detectives believe there is more than one man involved, each acting individually. Police provided a broad description of the suspects, saying the flashers are possibly white, with a light to medium complexion. The suspects are usually in a secluded area of the trails and sometimes cover their faces. They may be between 20 and 60 years old, 5 feet 7 inches to 6 feet 2 inches tall and 150 to 200 pounds.  Police said the incidents took …

Man Exposed Self to Female Near Park Trail

A roundup of the latest Sully District crime.

Indecent Exposure: Cranoke Street and Hibner Street in Centreville, March 14, about 1:30 p.m. The victim was walking on a trail near the tennis courts when she saw a man. He turned to face her, exposing himself. No other information was available. Burglary: 15400 block of Eagle Tavern Lane, March 19, about 1 a.m. The homeowner reported someone entered her home and stole several items to include electronics and jewelry. It appears entry was made through an unsecured garage door. Larcenies: Vehicle thefts: 14100 block of Lee Highway, 2006 Nissan Altima

Officer of the Quarter: Stone Middle School SRO Steve Lawson

Citizens Advisory Committee honors Lawson with award for his service.

PFC Steve Lawson, a school resource officer at Ormond Stone Middle School, won the Officer of the Quarter Award at the Sully District Citizens Advisory Committee meeting on Tuesday.  Lawson has worked at Stone for the last five years. During that time, he has established a track record as a mentor for middle-school students, said his supervisor, Officer Bill Fulton. He has also collaborated with other officers at the Sully District Station for investigations.

Police: Clifton Woman Assaulted an Officer at Traffic Stop

The following information was provided by the Fairfax County Police Department. Where arrests are mentioned, it does not indicate a conviction.   Assault: At 2:40 p.m. on Tuesday, Feb. 7, an officer conducted a traffic stop near the intersection of Lee Jackson Memorial Highway and Lees Corner Road and arrested the driver, Eileen A. Griffin, 50, of Clifton. Griffin allegedly became belligerent and fought the officer, police said. She was subsequently charged with assault on a police officer, open container and driving while intoxicated.  Larcenies

Police Need Help to Find Pathway Flasher

Man has exposed himself several times to walkers along the trail, including young people.

Fairfax County Police are asking for the public's help to find a flasher who has established a pattern of exposing himself in the woods.  The man targeted the wooded trails near Virginia Run, and other areas, several times last year. He waited along the pathways and then would expose himself to people walking by—including underage victims.  As the weather reached unseasonably high temperatures this week and more people venture out on the trails, Sully District police sent out a notice to neighborhood watches and other groups. Police: Vandalism at Mosque Likely Not a Hate Crime

The evidence at the scene indicates that the crime was a random act of destruction.

Fairfax County Police believe that the recent vandalism at the construction site of a new Chantilly mosque was probably a random act of vicious vandalism, Captain Purvis Dawson, the commander of the Sully District Police Station, said Tuesday.  The Northern Virginia chapter of the Ahmadiyya Muslim Community will have to delay the mosque's opening (previously scheduled for late February), and leaders estimate the amount of damage is in the tens of thousands of dollars.
