The Westfield High School community recognized senior Bulldog athletes who will play college sports next fall.
Thirty-one Westfield High School seniors, faculty, staff, coaches and parents held a symbolic signing ceremony on Thursday, May 3, to celebrate their entrance into the world of college sports this fall. Bulldogs lose 52-56
The Westfield Bulldogs lost the VHSL Group AAA Boys state quarterfinals against Henrico, 52-56. The top scorers for Westfield were Zach Elcano and Quentin Basil, with 11 points each.

Basketball teams take-down Hornets, plus an indoor track update.
Westfield boys’ basketball on five-game win streak Coach Doug Ewell’s varsity Bulldogs (13-3, 4-0) came out on the winning side of a rugged battle with Herndon last Thursday night, edging the Hornets in double overtime, 73-62. Down three points at the half, Westfield rallied late in the game behind strong performances from Kris Perry and Quentin Basil to force double-overtime. The bulldogs gained a slight lead, forcing Herndon to foul, and eventually outscored the Hornets 14-3 in the final OT, including 12 straight free throws, to eek out the victory. “We started off on a 10-0 run and we were down 29-26 at halftime,” said Coach Doug Ewell. “We had some turnovers, but the third quarter was back and forth – I think we had 10 or 12 lead …

Star center takes on leadership role for Westfield basketball team
The Westfield High Bulldogs (12-3, 3-0) have dominated the hardwood this season and are fresh off a win-streak of four in a row and seven out of their last eight games. The team is just one win shy of its 13 victories from the 2010-11 season, with plenty of basketball still left to play. Why the big turn around? Well, senior Zach Elcano is one ‘giant’ reason the Bulldogs seem the team to beat in the Concorde. The 6-feet-11 inches, 245-pound center leads his squad in scoring with an average of 13-points per game. Elcano said he took it upon himself in the off-season to become more physical to help lead the Bulldogs in a shot at bringing home championship banners this year. “We definitely needed someone to step up and be a leader,” said …
