With a new detective assigned to the case, Bethany Decker’s mother tries to stay optimistic.
While Mother’s Day provides an opportunity for people to get together and celebrate the moms in their families, this year the day coincided with the 23rd birthday of Bethany Decker, an Ashburn mother who has been missing since Jan. 29, 2011. Decker’s family set up a Mother’s Day/birthday tribute for the missing woman at the Junction Plaza Giant to remind people that she remains missing and to ask anyone who may have a clue to share it with investigators. “My expectation for today is to help get out the word,” said Kim Nelson, Bethany’s mother, who directed the following comment to her daughter: “If you hear this, happy birthday and happy Mother’s Day to you.” The newest detail regarding the case is that Loudoun Sheriff Mike Chapman, who …

Investigators continue to seek clues in case of young mother, college student.
For the past three and half months, investigators have worked long hours, occasionally releasing new photos, to determine the whereabouts of Bethany Anne Decker, a 21-year-old Ashburn mother and college student who has a second child on the way. Hope remains that the young woman will one day call her young son or her mother and say she’s alright, but such hopes fades with each passing day. She was approximately five months pregnant when she disappeared, meaning she should have just about reached full term by now. Neither the cell phone known to be hers nor any of her credit cards have been used since she was last seen Jan. 29. Investigators have not released specific details about Decker’s cell phone or credit cards, such as where and when…

Investigators seek new leads in case of Ashburn woman missing since January.
Nearly two months after Bethany Anne Decker disappeared, seemingly without a trace, investigators seeking leads about the pregnant mother’s whereabouts conducted yet another search of an area near the Ashburn apartment where she lived with a man described as her boyfriend. Sheriff Stephen O. Simpson, who was at the scene March 24, said he continues to hold out hope that Decker is just taking some time to herself, but acknowledged that such optimism fades with each passing day. “We’re hoping, obviously, to find her alive and well someplace,” he said, pointing out that it’s not even clear whether Decker left of her own volition. “Technically, this is a missing person case at this time,” Simpson said. “We don’t have evidence of foul play, but…

Bethany Anne Decker, 21, was last seen on Jan. 29
Authorities last week searched the home of a Centreville man identified as the last person to see missing mother Bethany Anne Decker before she disappeared at the end of January. Despite the search and previously not revealing that Decker had a boyfriend, investigators continue to stress that no suspects have been identified, nor has evidence of a crime been found. "There are no suspects because we don't necessarily have a particular crime we are dealing with," said Investigator Vince DiBenedetto, a spokesman for the Loudoun County Sheriff's Office. Everyone involved is considered a witness at this point, not a suspect, he said. He also said the boyfriend, Ronald Roldan, is cooperating with authorities. Shannon Codere, the Loudoun County …
