Marlin & Ray's Seafood Restaurant in Fairfax Closes

Location was one of 13 Marlin & Ray's eateries to close.

The Marlin & Ray's seafood restaurant at 11204 James Swart Circle in Fairfax has closed, after one year in business. The location was previously a Ruby Tuesday's, which is part of the same company. The chain closed all 13 of its eateries this week so the company can focus more on its Ruby Tuesday brand, the company said in a statement. Company officials said they are working to relocate Marlin & Ray's staff members, which they consider to be part of their family, to remaining restaurant's within the company. 2011: What Opened, What Closed

Centreville welcomes parade of new businesses, and says goodbye to longtime outlets

Centreville residents saw a parade of new businesses open in the community this past year, although they also said goodbye in 2011 to a handful of old standby outlets that shuttered their doors for good.  One of the notable new businesses is the Clifton Saddlery, which gave up the tony community in November and moved to Centreville into an old Hollywood Video store on Multiplex Drive. It was tough moving from Clifton after 24 years, but owner Liz Nuti said they have been amazed at the community response. Although the horses may not be stabled in Centreville, many riders live in the community.  “We have exceeded our expectations so far,” Nuti said. “We are trying to provide them with a one-stop shop.”  Other notable openings: Organizers on …
