Civil War Life Comes to Sully This Weekend

Skirmishes, rifle firings, and music planned for this weekend, as re-enactors set up at Sully Historic Site.

Imagine having soldiers from two warring armies trekking across your front yard. That's just what happened to the Barlow and Haight families during the Civil War, at the Chantilly park now called Sully Historic Site.

And this weekend, Sully will host an event that will give locals a chance to see what life was like for those families, and other people, during the Civil War. Re-enactors will conduct mock skirmishes, demonstrate camp life and fire rifles. Visitors can join in and march with "recruits" carrying wooden muskets.

There will be historic games, music and tours of the house available, with artifacts on display inside. The last tour starts at 4 p.m.

Admission is $9 for adults and $7 for seniors and children.
