Police Searching For Man Who Exposed Himself

Sully District police will be patrolling local parks on foot and on bicycles.

A teenaged girl was recently walking on a Cub Run trail, behind Linden Creek Court in Centreville, when she heard a whistle.

The girl, 14, turned around and saw a man masturbating, according to Fairfax County police.

The incident took place on March 1st, around 3:30 p.m., Captain John Piper of the Sully District police station said Tuesday night at a Citizens Advisory Council Meeting.

"Unfortunately there are people who take advantage of the concealment of the woods" to do this sort of thing, Piper said. He said that police are particularly concerned by this case because there are playgrounds close by.

He noted that there have been other indecent exposure incidents in the area recently, though they are not related. On February 22, a man exposed himself in the Subway restaurant on St. Germain Drive, and another man in November at a local Giant.

Cops will be patrolling local trails and parks on foot and on bicycle to help prevent this type of behavior. Piper also asked that residents step forward if they see anything odd in the parks. "If someone's out of place on the paths, call us," he said.
