Nominate a 'Friend of Trees' for Award

The Fairfax County Tree Commission will select a winner in April.

This spring the Fairfax County Tree Commission will honor people doing outstanding work locally for the environment.

The "Friends of Trees" awards will go to an organization or individuals that volunteered time during 2011 to protect or plant trees. The organization does not have to be environmentally-oriented: possiblities could include youth groups, civic organizations, schools or others. The Tree Commission will select the winner in April. Nominators should also include a description of the project, which must have run for a year or longer, beginning in 2011.

  • tree preservation actions
  • education programs
  • tree planting projects
  • innovative maintenance programs

To nominate someone or an organization for the award, download the form online, and mail it before the March 30, 2012, deadline. Nomination forms may be sent to Fairfax County Tree Commission, c/o Urban Forest Management Division, 12055 Government Center Pkwy, Fairfax, VA 22035, or via email at treemail@fairfaxcounty.gov.
